Olympic College Track & Field Battles Snowy Conditions at PLU Open
[Tacoma - Coach Jakan Austin]
The Olympic College Rangers Track & Field team competed in their second meet of the season at the PLU Open in Parkland, where athletes battled snowy conditions but still delivered strong performances.
Despite the challenging weather, several Rangers continued to build momentum early in the season with additional NWAC Championship qualifying marks.
On the men's side, Reece Rheinchmidt and Bobby Dun Smith both qualified for the NWAC Championships in the high jump, adding to the Rangers' growing list of championship qualifiers.
For the women, Jordan Clark qualified for the NWAC Championships in the 800 meters, continuing her strong start to the season.
The meet also featured several personal records for Olympic College athletes. One standout performance came in the women's long jump, where Talelia Sweet won the event with a personal record jump of 15'9".
As a team, the Rangers showed impressive depth and competitiveness. The men's team placed second out of 11 teams, while the women's team finished third out of 11 teams.
I'm really excited to see what this team can do when we get some warm weather, These last two meets have been in pretty cold conditions, and our athletes have still performed really well. I'm proud of this group and looking forward to what's ahead.
The Rangers will continue their season as they prepare for upcoming meets and build toward the NWAC Championships.
