Clough Starts 2022 Campaign Breaking 43-year old OC Record
TACOMA | Olympic College Track & Field teams opened their season this weekend at the University of Puget Sound's Ed Boitano Invitational. Teams attending included NCAA Division II and III teams from all over the state of Washington, including Western Washington & Colorado College.
OC qualifying three for the NWAC Championships and seeing Two school record fall. "Everyone has put in a lot of hard work in the off-season," shared head coach Jakan Austin, "It's paying off now with good marks in our first meet."
Ryan Clough (Fr., Port Orchard, WA / Soth Kitsap HS) started his freshman campaign strong, finishing first in the 5000-meter run and third in the 10,000-meter run. The runs in both events qualified him for the NWAC Championships. His 10,000-meter run time was 31:259 broke the school record, set by Dan Morgan in 1979 with a time of 32.04
In her first collegiate meet, teammate Pono Fuiava (Fr., Silverdale, WA / Central Kitsap HS) also qualified for NWAC's shotput and discus with a throw of 40'0 in the shotput and 114'6 in the discus.
In addition to Clough, Miller Campbell (Fr., Belfair, WA / North Mason HS) also qualified for NWAC Champs with in hammer with a throw of 161'11. Miller place second in the hammer and seventh in the discus.
The teams compete again this Saturday at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.
