Rangers Wrap Spring Season at Skagit Valley Invite, Moore and McKenzie Advance to NWAC Championships
Alex Moore, a sophomore from Port Orchard, Washington (South Kitsap HS), emerged as a team leader for the Rangers this season, using his prior university golf experience to mentor and guide Olympic College’s younger players.
The Olympic College golf teams closed out the 2026 spring season and competitive year this week at the Skagit Valley College Invitational, held at Avalon Golf Club in Burlington, Washington, competing against some of the conference's strongest programs in a final tune‑up before championship play.
The Olympic College men's team delivered a solid showing, finishing fourth overall in the team standings with a two‑round total of +76, competing against a deep field that included multiple top conference contenders.
Leading the way for the Rangers, Alex Moore turned in a clutch performance when it mattered most. After opening with an 89, Moore responded with a strong second‑round 76 to finish at 165 (+21), securing his place in the NWAC Championships field. His late push highlighted the resilience that has defined Olympic College's top competitors down the stretch.
KJ Bentz also delivered a strong tournament for the Rangers, finishing seventh overall at 159 (+15) with rounds of 77 and 82. Raymond Jennings added a steady performance at 164 (+20), while Matix Thorne and Colin Whitehead each carded 169 (+25) over two rounds, contributing to a balanced team effort.
Additional rounds from Dylan Williams (169), Kaiden Scott (192), James Ball (194), and Ethan Crowley (206) rounded out the Olympic College lineup as the team gained valuable experience competing in a postseason‑level field.
On the women's side, Olympic College finished fifth as a team in the invitational while continuing to build experience and depth heading into championship play.
Kiyomi McKenzie led the Rangers with rounds of 114 and 116, finishing at 230 (+86) to secure her spot as the sole women's representative for Olympic College at the NWAC Championships. Samantha Hooker followed with a total of 246, while Kaylee Cushman completed the event at 301, as all three Rangers gained valuable multi‑round tournament experience.
With the invitational marking the conclusion of the spring schedule, the focus now shifts to postseason competition. Alex Moore and Kiyomi McKenzie will represent Olympic College at the NWAC Championships, set for May 18–19, 2026, at the Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima, Washington.
The appearance caps a season of steady growth for Olympic College Golf, highlighted by the men's push to the brink of team qualification and continued development on the women's side. As the Rangers head to Yakima, they carry forward the momentum of a competitive spring and the opportunity to close out the year on the championship stage.
