Bio

Coach Ryley Callaghan joined the Olympic College's Athletic Department for his first season as the head coach of the Men's Basketball program in 2021. Callaghan was initially brought on as the team's associate head coach in 2020.  After the departure of head coach Craig Murray, he decided to step into the new leadership role of leading the program at OC. In his first year with the program, he's challenging his team to redefine the culture of OC basketball with an "It's all about the team" mentality. Before his time with the Rangers, Ryley spent some time at Corban University as a graduate assistant and head of player development. He's also coached AAU basketball in the summertime for programs such as Future Stars and Total Package before taking over the program at OC.

Born and raised in Kitsap County, Callaghan helped South Kitsap High to two state appearances and was awarded the Kitsap Sun Player of the year in 2014. After his high school career ended, he signed his letter of intent to play for the Peninsula College Pirates.  Adjusting to the higher level of competition was no problem for Ryley, as he soon became one of the top players in the NWAC.  He helped lead the Pirates to a final four appearance in the 2014-2015 season and the North Region champion in 2015-2016. Callaghan was awarded the NWAC North Region player of the year honors in his efforts. Following a successful stint in the NWAC, he committed to University of Hawaii-Hilo, to continue his career on a full-ride scholarship.

Callaghan has his bachelor's in Kinesiology from the University of Hawaii-Hilo while obtaining his teacher certification for Oregon and Washington from Corban University. He teaches physical education virtually for middle schoolers in Kitsap County and plans on continuing his education in pursuit of a master's degree in education. In the off-season, he enjoys playing golf, the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
